Alisha Lee is from Salt Lake City Utah and has been dancing for 17 years with extensive training in jazz, hip hop, ballet, contemporary and modern. She has been teaching dance since the age of 16 and her choreography has been recognized on a local and national level. Alisha has danced professionally for 5 years and is currently a Utah Jazz Dancer. She recently spent 2 years training and dancing in Colorado where she danced 2 season for the Denver Nuggets and is an original staff member of Millennium Dance Complex Denver. Previous work includes 2013 Utah Blaze Dancer and Utah's Underground Crew. Alisha coached the Cottonwood Chaparrals for two years severing as the head coach for their 2013-2014 season and is excited to now take on the role of Head Coach of the Taylorsville Drill Team. Alisha is a passionate dancer, performer and teacher.
Aubree was born and raised in St. George, Utah. She is currently studying at Dixie State University with a major in exercise science. Aubree is a two year member of the Dixie Blaze Dance Team and now serves as the co-president. She is also a recipient of the All-American Collegiate Dancer award and has received many awards and first place rankings for her choreography and dancing. Aubree went to Desert Hills High School where she was on drill team for three years, serving as president of choreography her junior year and head captain her senior year. She was a member of the All-State Drill Team and an Academic All-State recipient. She was also awarded Dance Sterling Scholar at her school and is a 2x Academic All-Region recipient. Aubree is currently assistant coach of Tempest Line Drill Team at Desert Hills where they hold two Region Championships and the 2018 4A State Championship. She thrives on sharing her passion for dance with everyone around her and helping dancers reach their fullest potential.
Brooke Johnson was born and raised in Cottonwood Heights, Utah. She has been dancing for 17 years. She began dancing at The Winner School at age 3. Since then she has been trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary tap, and ballroom. She has won two scholarships from JUMP dance convention, and numerous other awards while dancing with studios. She has also danced in Odyssey dance theaters, “Thriller.’’! Brooke was a member of the Brighton High School Accadian Drill team and was Head Mistress her senior year. She enjoyed working and dancing with the girls on her teams. During her time on drill Brooke was a two time BDT Top Corp winner. After High School she danced on the Nationally Ranked Utah Valley University Dance Team and competed at NDA nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. She now enjoys working at BDT, choreographing for various schools, teaching at The Ridge dance studio in Payson, Utah and spending time with her Husband, Tyler. Brooke is thankful for all of the rewards and lessons that dance has taught her and can’t wait to see what her future has in store.
Caroline Tarbet is from Sandy, Utah. She started dancing competitively at the age of six and has been trained in jazz, hip hop, and contemporary. Caroline is a proud alumni member of the Hillcrest Drill Team where she served as Dance Captain for 3 years. Caroline was named Miss Drill Utah 2016 after competing with her own solo choreography her junior year. Caroline is currently going to school at Brigham Young University and is a member of the 16 time national title winning BYU Cougarettes. She was honored to be asked to choreograph last season and looks forward to additional opportunities.
Chalyn has been dancing since the age of 3 and has trained in Hip Hop, Jazz, Ballet, Contemporary, Lyrical, Musical Theater and Tap. She graduated from the University of Utah in 2013 and is now the Marketing and Admissions Director for a substance abuse faculty. Chalyn was a member of the Hillcrest Drill Team for 3 years and helped them earn a state title and 2 national titles as the co-captain. She was also a member of the LA Dance Magic Company for 2 years and was a teaching apprentice for LA Dance Magic in 2012. Chalyn danced professionally on a contemporary dance company, UNBOUND, under the direction of Caroline Lewis-Jones in Columbia, South Carolina. Chalyn is an accomplished dancer and choreographer and has set many award winning lyrical, dance and hip hop routines for drill teams and studios in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and South Carolina. This is Chalyn's 10th season as an instructor for Basic Dance Training and is a job she looks forward to every year.
Chantel was born and raised in the small town of Roosevelt, Utah. She has been dancing since the age of three training in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, tap and pom. She has been trained by a multitude of professional dancers including Jakob Karr, Joey Dowling, Mandy Moore and Tony Testa. In high school, she danced for the Union Cougarettes’ drill team where she was the captain for her junior and senior years. She was awarded with Academic All-Region, Academic All-State, 2x All-State Recipient, 2x BDT “Top Corp” Winner and Union’s Dance Sterling Scholar while on this team. She also competed in Miss Drill Utah, where she placed as the 3A Classification winner two years in a row and Top Ten Finalist her senior year. Chantel currently attends the University of Utah where she has been a member of their dance team for four years while working on her Bachelors Degree in Business with a minor in Nutrition. She spent last year being their choreographer and is now a captain of the team. She is currently starting her choreography career, choreographing dances for multiple drill teams and soloists in Utah. She also finds time to compete in pageants where she reigns as Miss Duchesne County 2016. BDT has always held a special place in Chantel’s heart, and now she is so excited to help share that love and passion with everyone else!
Chelsea has trained extensively in ballet, jazz, tap and hip-hop. She was a three-year captain of the Hillcrest Drill Team and was selected for the All-State Drill Team her senior year. After high school, Chelsea joined Odyssey Dance Theatre for three seasons. During that time, she was cast as a featured dancer in both the MTV Movie “The American Mall” and the Disney Channel Original Movie “High School Musical 3”. In 2011, Chelsea graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelors Degree in Exercise & Sports Science and a Minor in Nutrition. That same year, Chelsea became the Drill Team Coach at Brighton High School and in 2013 was named Brighton’s Teacher/ Coach of the Year. Chelsea is an accomplished choreographer in many styles of dance, recently winning the 2013 “Creative Precisions Award” and consecutive “Outstanding Choreography Awards” at the Contest of Champions Nationals.
Cierra has been a dancer for 16 years, beginning and developing her training in many styles at The Dance Factory studio in Bountiful, Utah. She was a member of Davis High Schools drill team for 3 years and was Dance captain her third year. Cierra held the title of 2017 Miss Dance Drill Team Utah. She continues her dance training as a member of the national champion Utah Valley Dance team as a first year member. Cierra loves the EPIC program and is so excited to be a part of the 2018 Staff.
Dresden is from Pleasant Grove, Utah where she trained in all styles of dance for 14 years. She is currently attending Brigham Young University where she is studying elementary education. Dresden in a member of the 16 time national champion BYU Cougarettes dance team. Dresden attended Pleasant Grove High School where she was a member of her drill team for 4 years and served as a captain her senior year. Dresden was awarded the title of Miss Drill Utah 2015 her junior year of high school and went on to be named Miss Drill USA 1st runner up 2015. Dresden loves to perform and compete and enjoys teaching as she is able to share her passion with other dancers
Ellie Rose has trained since the age of 3 in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, hip hop, lyrical, and ballroom. She was a four year member and three year captain of the Box Elder High School drill team, where she was named to the All-State drill team three years in a row. She also received academic all-region her senior year and she was awarded sterling scholar in dance for Box Elder High School. She has continually received scholarships and awards from nationally ranked conventions and competitions. She has had various assisting opportunities including Hip Hop Choreographer Hannah Wintrode form Seattle Washington. She was apart of the WSU Spirit Squad/Dance team. As a member of the dance team they swept NDA camp in Las Vegas and went on to win Nationals in Division 1 Hip Hop in Daytona Florida. She recently received the Athletic-Scholar award at Weber State University. Currently she is teaching and choreographing at Infinity Dance Utah where her routines are placing in the top five at national conventions and competitions. She has done choreography for various studios and high schools through out Utah and Idaho. She is attending Weber State University and is currently working towards getting a degree in History Education.
Emma grew up on stage performing at the Ellen Eccles Theatre in Logan, Utah with the Cache Valley Civic Ballet Company as well as the Brindusa-Moore Ballet Academy in Pocatello, Idaho. Her training has included not only ballet, but has included jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and musical theatre. Emma was a two-year captain of the Logan High School drill team and a two-time member of the All-State drill team and All-Region drill team. Emma participated in Miss Drill Utah and was selected as the overall 3A Classification winner and one of the Top 10 Finalists her senior year. Emma currently is attending Weber State University majoring in nursing. She is a member of the WSU Division 1 Nationally Acclaimed Spirit Squad as a dancer. Her personal experiences and memories at EPIC as a drill team member are held in a special place in her heart. Emma is excited to share her passion for drill and dance with others.
Erica was born and raised in Sandy, Utah. She trained at Revolution Dance Studio for 15 years. Some of her accomplishments in that time include being in the Ballet West Nutcracker for 6 six years, a part of the youth cast for Odyssey Dance Company's Thriller, a featured dancer in MTV's movie American Mall, and a featured dancer in High School Musical 3. She was a member of her high school's drill team and was a captain her junior and senior year. After high school Erica attended Arizona State University where she was a member of the Dance Team/ Spirit Squad for all four years. She was the head captain her junior and senior year of college. Her accomplishments in college include a gold medal for jazz at world's in 2013, made an appearance on the Jimmy Fallon show, performed and choreographed the pre-game for the 2015 Super Bowl and performed in Katy Perry's Super Bowl halftime. She graduated in May 2016 in Business Law and Business Communication and minored in Sociology. She is currently pursuing her Master's Degree at Ottawa University where she is the graduate assistant for the Cheer and Dance Teams. Also, Erica started teaching at 16 and has taught at many studios, schools, and dance camps throughout the U.S. She has a passion for dance and teaching and ultimately wants to teach the youth who dance to dance because they love it!
Heather began dancing when she was 3 years old and trained in all styles from ballet to belly dancing with her favorite being hip-hop. She danced throughout high school on the drill team and continued on to spend 5 years dancing in college for the Weber State Spirit Squad where she led the team to the Weber’s first ever Hip-Hop National Championship in the NDA D1 Division. While at Weber she graduated with a bachelors in Microbiology and a double minor in Chemistry and Zoology. She has spent the past 7 years as a staff member for Epic productions where she specializes in hip-hop choreography as a lead instructor. Throughout her career Heather has been recognized as a 2-time All-State Recipient and All-Region Dancer, Dance Sterling Scholar, 3-time All-American Dancer, and 2-time Collegiate MVP. She is currently on her third season dancing for the NBA as a Utah Jazz Dancer where she is team captain. Heather is also on her second year as the head dance coach at her alma mater Weber State University.
Jaylee Gardner is currently finishing her Elementary Education degree at Brigham Young University as she will be doing her student teaching during the fall this year, 2017. While at BYU she danced on the now 17-time national champion BYU Cougarette dance team. She enjoys teaching at various studios and working with various dance/drill teams throughout Utah. Jaylee is a guest instructor for many dance camps and workshops throughout the west coast. She just recently worked with a team from Kashiwa Japan teaching contemporary and technique master classes. Jaylee is a well known choreographer for both studio and dance/drill. Before joining the BYU Cougarettes Jaylee danced on the Lone Peak drill team for three years, serving her last two years as captain. Jaylee also was the Dance Sterling Scholar for Lone Peak in 2012-2013. Jaylee loves working with various teams teaching and encouraging them through her passion for dance.
Jazlyn Nielsen has received her training from numerous Dance studios in northern Utah. She is trained in Jazz, Contemporary, Ballet, Tumbling, and Hip-Hop. In High School Jazlyn served two years as Drill Mistress. She was an All State Drill Team member, Dance Sterling Scholar and has won numerous solo titles: Miss Dance/Drill Team Utah, Dance/Drill USA Nation Grand Solo Champion, Stars National Professional Soloist. Jazlyn has choreographed many award winning team and solo routines. She has also been awarded Utah PTA’s Reflection choreographer of the year. Jazlyn has toured with Joe Tremaine along with Destiny Crouse Line, and the American Dance Festival, excelling as a dancer and choreographer. She is currently a Dance Major at Utah Valley University, and has recently returned from touring Europe with her Synergy Dance Company. She encourages building self-esteem through challenging students to be the best they can be.
Jerra Kofford is currently studying Business Management at Brigham Young University and is a current member of the 9 time national winning BYU Cougarettes. Jerra has trained in all forms of dance since the age of 7 and specializes in ballet, jazz, lyrical, and contemporary. She has been a member of Bonnie Story’s pre-professional company ‘Expansion’ and has competed and performed all over the country and will be competing and taking workshops in Prague, Czech Republic this summer! Jerra was a captain of her drill team in high school and won the title of Miss Drill Utah in 2009. Along with continuing her dance career, Jerra continues to teach technique and choreograph routines for various studios and high schools around the state of Utah.
Jordan has been dancing for nearly 3 decades training extensively across many genres. She has coached drill team for 10+ years and is currently co-owner of the World Class Dance National competition in Las Vegas, Nevada and Rocky Mountain Drill competition in Draper, Utah. Jordan has an AS degree from Snow College in Dance Education, BFA from the University of Utah in Modern Dance and a Masters of Fine Art Administration degree from Southern Utah University. Throughout her education Jordan has had the opportunity to perform professionally with many groups, including the Martha Graham Company (NYC), Dance Arts Theatre Utah (DATU), Repertory Dance Theatre (RDT) and more. Jordan has since continued her education and training through professional development courses and educator workshops around the country. She is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique instructor (Marie Walton-Mahon), Stadium of Fire choreography assistant, and is planning to pursue a Doctorate degree in Dance Pedagogy. Jordan is currently working as a freelance artist, choreographer, adjudicator and teacher, working with many studios, schools and colleges both nationally and internationally.
Katelyn has been dancing since she was two years old and trained in various styles such as jazz, hip hop, contemporary, ballet, and latin ballroom. She was a member of the West Jordan High School drill team and also trained at The Vibe in Lindon, Utah on their senior tour team. After high school she moved to St. George and was a member of a service dance team called Kalamity. Currently she is dancing for the Utah Jazz and loves it! Katelyn loves to share her passion for dance with others!
Kirsten has been dancing for 17 years training in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, ballet, tumbling, and acro at Synergy Dance Academy. Kirsten is from West Jordan Utah and was on the Copper hills drill team for 3 years where she won 3 state championships. She was able to be a part of the All-State drill team her junior and senior year. She also had the honor of being a top corp winner all 3 years she attended Epic. Kirsten competed in Miss Drill Utah as well as Miss Drill USA where she won the title of Miss Drill International when competing against international competitors. She is currently attending Utah Valley University where she is studying to be a nurse. Kirsten is also on the UVU Dance Team who are 4x national champions, and recently became 2018 National Champions in jazz. Kirsten loves teaching dance and has been teaching at Synergy Dance Academy for 4 years. She loved her time on drill team and is so excited to be a part of the Epic staff and having the chance to work with all of the amazing drill teams throughout the state.
Kylie has been dancing for 17 years and has received training in ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip hop, and modern. She is currently teaching at Synergy Dance Academy and is an assistant coach for the Copper Hills Azurettes for the 2017-2018 drill season. She is a member of the nationally ranked Utah Valley University Dance Team, the University of Utah Dance Team, and the state title holding drill team at Copper Hills High School. In high school, she earned the title Miss Drill Utah in 2014, and also held a captain and president position. Kylie received Top Corp at BDT every year, was apart of the All-State drill team for two consecutive years, and received Academic All-Region for all three years. She is currently working on her Bachelor degree in Exercise Science and wants to pursue her dance career as a teacher and choreographer.
Lauralyn graduated from BYU with a Bachelors of Science degree in Dance Education. She taught and coached at Timpview High School for 12 yrs. Her choreography includes the annual 4th of July “Stadium of Fire”, the Miss Rodeo America Pageant, the 2002 SLC Winter Olympic Games Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Bowl game halftimes shows, and many National Championship Dance/Drill, Studio, and Solo competition routines. Lauralyn directs the annual “Rap It Up” hip hop convention and co-directs the Miss Dance/Drill Utah Pageant and the Utah Dance and Drill Solo Championship. She is the Event Coordinator for Dance America and is the Co-Founder for the “Intermountain Spirit Association.” Lauralyn serves on the Board of Directors for the “UDJA” and has been a certified adjudicator for 18 yrs. Lauralyn LOVES to workout and currently teaches fitness classes for Gold’s Gym.
Dancing for 20 years, Lexi is so excited to finally be able to teach what she has learned. She was a member of the Bingham High School Drill Team (Minerettes), during her time on the Minerettes, she was awarded the “Minerette of the Year” award, Astra's Brightest Star Scholarship, and became a member of the “All-State Drill Team”. After graduating high school, she became a 2 year member of the Utah Valley University Dance Team. During that time she was awarded many leadership and scholastic scholarships. Best of all, Lexi and her team were named “National Champions” in 2014 where they made history by winning over 33 teams in the open dance category. She is now a teacher at HIP Dance Studio, United Dance Center, and Riverton High School where she serves as the Drill Team Coach. She is a state-wide choreographer and dance instructor for many award winning routines and teams. Aside from dancing, during the years of 2014-2015 she was awarded “Miss South Jordan” where she competed at “Miss Utah” and served her city through her platform of “Suicide Prevention-Speak Up-Reach Out”. This platform has influenced her to pursue making a difference in others for the rest of her life. She decided to apply for and was accepted into for the prestigious UVU Bachelor of Social Work Program and was selected as a member of the 2015 BSW cohort. During these years, she interned at the Utah State Hospital as a social work trainee. Recently this spring, Lexi graduated with her Bachelors and will be soon pursuing her Masters. Lexi now serves as the head coach for the Drill Team at RIverton High School.
Marli was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She has been dancing for roughly fifteen years, beginning at The Winner School at the age of five. She continued training and competing in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary and hip hop. She was a member of the Cottonwood High School drill team for four years, and was head captain her senior year. She is currently studying Graphic Design at the University of Utah, while fulfilling her second year as a member of pre-professional dance company, “Expansion” (Draper, Utah) under the direction of Bonnie Story. She has been training and performing extensively with Bonnie in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, contemporary and ballroom. Marli has a passion for dance, and for sharing the beauty of dance with others. She loves being involved in drill teams and being a part of the BDT family!
McKenna has been dancing for 17 years training in jazz, hip hop, ballet and contemporary. McKenna is from Herriman, Utah where she was on the Herriman High School drill team for four years, two of those years spent as head captain. She had the opportunity to be apart of the All-State drill team her senior year, as well as placing in top ten at the Miss Drill team Utah Pageant. She is now currently assistant coach of the Herriman High School Drill Team, as well as teaching and choreographing for many different schools around the state. McKenna is currently a part of the America First Utah Jazz Dancers and has loved being able to dance for her favorite NBA basketball team. On top of her dancing life she is a full time nanny to three kids that she absolutely adores. She loves coming to BDT to teach and share her passion for dancing and can’t wait to see what the future has in store for her dancing career.
Megan graduated from the University of Utah in Exercise Science and Physiology. She currently works at University of Utah Healthcare in the pulmonary department, as well as manages the wellness and fitness program at the Daybreak hospital. She has been dancing since she was 4 years old, is trained in all areas, but specializes in contemporary, lyrical, jazz and military. In high school, she was a 3 year member of the Bingham High School Minerettes. Her senior year, she was a dance captain and led her team to the state title. From 2011-2013 Megan coached the Brighton High School Accadians. Her military choreography has received national awards and recognition. She currently coaches the drill team at Bingham High School and teaches and choreographs numerous team and solo routines all throughout Utah and Idaho.
Morgan is from Spanish Fork, Utah and has been training and performing for 21 years in jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary, modern, and lyrical. She is currently attending Utah Valley University pursuing a degree in public health communications. Morgan was a drill team coach for 4 years while continuing her own dance career in the NBA as an America First Utah Jazz Dancer. Morgan has been teaching and choreographing with EPIC since 2013 and is the lead choreographer and technical director at an award-winning performing arts center in Utah. Morgan continues to work with various studio groups, dance teams, performance companies, and live production events with choreography, artistic development, and technique. Performing has always been her passion and she loves that now she gets to use her passion for dance and teaching to help young dancers develop their talents and prepare for their futures.
Myranda is from Columbus Ohio but has spent most of her life in Midvale, Utah where she has been dancing for 16 years. She is trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary. She is currently attending Utah Valley University where she is studying Physical Education and Health. Myranda is a current member of the 2018 National Champion Utah Valley Dance Team. She will be returning member o three years. While in high school Myranda participated in the Miss Drill Pageant for four years and was crowned Miss Teen Drill Utah 2013 as a Freshman. Myranda was a member of Hillcrest Drill for 4 years and was the head captain her senior year leading her team to the 2016 4A State Title. She is now continuing her passion and love for drill by being part of the coaching staff for the State and National Championship Drill Team at Hillcrest High School. Myranda is so excited for EPIC it is her favorite time of year!
Sarah Murphy trained at Hi-Light Dance Academy for ten years with intense training in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, and contemporary. She has been teaching and choreographing award winning routines for seven years for studios, universities, and drill teams throughout Utah and Idaho. She has also assisted the Stadium of Fire dancers and the production of San Francisco Symphony’s “Midnight Surprise”. Sarah has been a staff member at Basic Dance Training drill camps and an Instructor for Summer Slam Dance Camps for six years. She danced on the drill team at Lone Peak High School where she served as Captain for two years, helped lead the team to three region championships, was awarded the All-Region award, and served as the Assistant Coach from 2011-2012. She has also won numerous scholarships and awards at national conventions including LA Dance Magic and Jump and was a Miss Drill Team Utah top 10 finalist. Sarah’s current and most important work is happening in her home as she raises her one year old daughter, Norah, with the help of her husband McKay.
Savannah has been in the dance world since she the age of 3. She has received multiple scholarships from conventions and competitions across the country from a young age. Her most honored award thus far is becoming LA Dance Magic Conventions Magic Performer of the weekend for Utah. Savannah was on the Drill Team at Pleasant Grove High School for 2 years and was the captain of the team her Senior Year. Savannah had the amazing opportunity to compete in the Miss Drill Utah Competition for two years and placed 3rd runner up. Savannah is currently a member of the BYU Cougarettes. This 16 time National Championship team has been able to have several wins along with a few viral videos and some amazing experiences in two music videos. Savannah is loving her experience at Brigham Young University. Savannah is a 2nd year member on EPIC staff and wouldn’t change this opportunity for a thing. She loves the environment of the EPIC Camp and recommends it to all Drill Teams. Savannah enjoys teaching and is excited for another Epic summer season!
Sierra has been dancing since she was four years old. She has trained in many styles ranging from ballet, jazz, contemporary, hip-hop, military, pom, and lyrical. She loves all styles of dance, but is very passionate about drill team. Sierra was a member of her high school’s drill team for four years, and was Co-Captain her junior year, and Captain her senior year. She has received awards at different conventions and was awarded the Top Corp award for two years at EPIC. Sierra currently attends the University of Utah and is working towards a social work major and a dance minor. She is currently continuing her dance training, and would like to teach, choreograph, and coach in the future.
Sydney is from Sandy, Utah. She began dancing when she was 3 years old and never wanted to quit! She performed with Ballet West in the Nutcracker and Odyssey Dance in their production of Thriller. She attended Hillcrest High School and was a proud member of the Hillcrest Drill team for four years, serving as a Dance Captain for two years. She was a two year Top Corp member at BDT and placed in the top 4 at Miss Drill Utah her junior and senior years. She also stayed dancing at her studio through all four years of drill. After high school she was a member of the nationally ranked UVU Dance Team for 3 years and won three national titles with her amazing teammates. Syd is currently preparing to graduate from UVU with a degree in Hospitality Management. She lives in Bluffdale, Utah with her husband and cute golden doodle, Zara.
Tayla is from Pleasant Grove, Utah. She has been trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, and contemporary at Timpanogos School of Dance since she started dancing at the age of 3. Tayla is currently going to school at Utah Valley University where she is studying business management, and is a member of the UVU Dance Team, who are currently holding a 2017 National Championship Title. She was also a member of the Pleasant Grove High School Dance Company, along with being a member of the Drill Team for 4 years, helping lead them to two region titles, and was a Dance captain and an All-Region Drill Team Member her senior year. She has had many different opportunities choreographing for her dance teams, and solos.
